Lango of Prince George's County is seeking Non-Profit Status!  How will the program change?  Read below.

Lango of Prince George's County has operated as a for-profit entity since our inception in 2009.  While we have enjoyed great success and offered the program to over 800 children in the last two years, we believe our mission statement -- Every child CAN learn a second language, and every child  should learn a second language -- is easier to achieve by changing our structure to a non-profit status.  Our hope is that this will allow us to expand our reach even further.  With our new launch, we are setting a goal to DOUBLE our student enrollment!

Prince George's County public schools have over 130 elementary schools.  So assuming that Lango focus on the public school students alone, we have a lot of work to do achieve our mission.  As a parent, educator or caregiver, you can assist us in achieving our mission.  Please read on about how the program will change.

Sessions

Historically, Lango has offered classes in 10-class sessions.  While this helps in offering a continuous theme every 10 weeks, we have found that some parents believe that it is sufficient to enroll in just one session of foreign language classes.  Just as your child took a few years to learn their first language, learning a second language also requires a long-term investment.  Because true language learning requires repetition, consistency, and regular reinforcement, we are moving from a Class Session model to a Year-Round Year-Round model.  We will supplement our foreign language classes with cultural and cooking lessons, and we will end our school year with a grand finale performance that will showcase how much your child has learned.

We will offer throughout the school year from September to June.  Parents can enroll students any time from now until April of 2012.  At that point, we will cut off registration until the summer.

Pricing

In the past parents have paid for Lango classes in up front sessions.  We started offering classes in September of 2009 for $179 for 10 classes plus the cost of materials.  We have never increased our prices.  And we will not increase them now.  Families will enjoy lower prices and materials will now be included!  Every family will pay $60 per month for Lango classes.  You can enroll for your first month and pay directly online.  Subsequent months will be billed to you and will be due on the first day of each month.  Please note:  our schedule includes closures for holidays.  The monthly rate is not pro-rated for holidays or planned closures.  You can view our closures on our Calendar page.

Teachers

One thing that will never change with Lango, are our world class teachers.  Your child will continue to receive instruction from native or bilingual teachers who have undergone Lango's extensive teacher training in the Lango Method.  We hope to have also bring on and train bilingual college students studying education as interns because we firmly believe that Lango's Adventure Learning Approach is a highly effective way to teach young children a second language.  These students will hopefully leave better equipped to teach with new ideas and methods for their classrooms.  The end result will hopefully be better teachers create better students.

Contributions/Donations

Once the IRS issues our 501(c)(3) designation letter, we will begin soliciting donations and funding from like-minded organizations.  Because we have enjoyed significant growth mostly through your word of mouth, we would appreciate you sharing any organizations or entities that you feel may be able to assist us.  We will also post a donation button on our website, and you can make a donation at any time!  100% of all donations go into offering classes to students regardless of ability to pay.

Our commitment to providing superior customer service will never change.  We are always receptive to feedback and comments on how we can improve our program.
